Specimens of Infrastructure: New Work By Michelle Hagewood
For the past year, Michelle has been photographing, collecting, and considering modes of urban infrastructure and its interactions with the “natural” landscape. Simultaneously concerned with the invisible and psychological structures of communication, play, desire, and control, Michelle has been working to materialize and question these systems through drawing and compositing. The hand continually disrupts a fractal and digitally inspired process, and each evolution diverges from its source indeterminately; moving from familiar to foreign, retaining or suppressing traces of its parent, and often walking a fine line between finding and losing itself completely.

Mobtown Modern: High Art
As a counterpoint to our earlier concert Low Art, Mobtown Modern sirens, flutist Katayoon Hodjati and clarinetist Jennifer Everhart, present a program that takes their instruments to new sonic heights with music by Philip Glass, Brian Ferneyhough, Jason Eckardt, Kaaija Saariaho and a rare performance of Boulez’s Dialogue du l’ombre double. If one thing’s for sure, it’s that these girls can definitely hit the high notes.

Mobtown Modern: Rite Of Swing
For nearly 100 years, Igor Stravinsky’s riot-inducing icon The Rite of Spring has stood as a pillar of modern composition. Time to shake things up a bit. Tonight we present a new arrangement of Stravinsky’s Rite for modern jazz ensemble. Created especially for Mobtown Modern by award-winning jazz arranger Darryl Brenzel, the “jazz Rite” may not incite any riots but is sure to go down in history.
Tickets are $10, general admission and $5 for Contemporary Museum members and students with a valid ID.
